Batch Processes

Extract FrontPage Editable Regions

This batch process will extract the editable regions from pages created with Microsoft FrontPage Dynamic Web Templates, and save the resulting content to files in the folder you specify. The process will not overwrite the existing files, unless you select the folder the current files are in, as the destination folder (not recommended!).

To use this batch process, add all the files you wish to process using the button marked . You may remove unwanted files by selecting them and clicking the button marked , and you can clear the entire list by clicking the button marked . You may also drag-and-drop files and folders into the file list. Hold down the control button to add all the files in subfolders as well. The file list will list the file name, the source folder and the subfolder into which the processed file will be saved.

Next, select a target folder. This is the root folder, where the processed files will be saved. If a file is destined for a subfolder, it will be created under this root folder. This is done so that files with the same name in different folders will not be lost.

Next, select your options:

Introduction

This simple introduction tells you what the process does. You may select to overwrite existing files or not. This will not overwrite the source files, but will overwrite destination files that already exist (if you have previously run the process, for example).

Editable Regions

You may choose to extract all editable regions, or select specific regions only. To add regions to the list, type the region into the available box, and click Add. To remove a region from the list, select the name, and click Remove. You may also import all the region names from a Dynamic Web Template by clicking the Select Regions From Template button, and selecting a Dynamic Web Template file. Only regions that have a tick next to the name will be extracted.

Separators

This section allows you to decide how multiple regions in the same file are separated. The text in the Prefix text box will be added before each region, and the text in the Suffix text box will be added after each region. You may select whether to separate each region by a double new line. If not, a single new line will be used. You may also choose whether or not to include the HTML comments that identify the editable regions. This can help if you are planning to apply a different template to these pages.

Once all your options have been selected, click Start to run the batch process.
